Hale Center is 1-9 against Floydada since February of 2019 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Tuesday. Hale Center put the finishing touches on their sixth blowout victory of the season on Tuesday. They put the hurt on New Deal with a sharp 72-49 win. Given Hale Center's advantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 587th, while New Deal is ranked 1391st), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Meanwhile, Floydada came tearing into Friday's match with three straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 38.3 points) and they left with even more momentum. They took down Olton 61-47.
Floydada's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Tyrean Henderson, who scored 20 points along with eight rebounds and six steals. Braun Hobbs was another key contributor, dropping a double-double on 17 points and ten rebounds.
Hale Center is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six matches, which provided a nice bump to their 12-6 record this season. As for Floydada, their win bumped their record up to 17-6.
Hale Center came up short against Floydada when the teams last played back in December of 2023, falling 74-70. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Hobbs, who dropped a double-double on 29 points and 11 rebounds.
