North Rose-Wolcott and Williamson are an even 5-5 against one another since May of 2019, but likely not for long. The Cougars will head out to take on the Marauders at 4:45 p.m. on Monday. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.
North Rose-Wolcott is probably headed into the game with a chip on their shoulder considering Geneva just ended the team's three-game winning streak on Friday. They took a 10-5 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Panthers.
Elliot Bush and Cody Crane did some serious damage despite the final result: Bush went a perfect 3-for-3 with two stolen bases and three runs, while Crane went 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, three RBI, and one run. The team also got some help courtesy of Tommy Mills, who went 1-for-3 with one double and one RBI.
Meanwhile, after soaring to 20 runs the game before, Williamson was a bit more limited in their match on Saturday. They fell 6-1 to Sodus. The Marauders have struggled against the Spartans recently, as the game was their third consecutive lost meeting.
David DeFisher put in work while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out seven batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned (and five unearned) runs off ten hits. DeFisher was also big at the plate, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with two stolen bases and one run. He has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last four times he's played.
In other batting news, Caiden Watson was cooking despite his team's loss, going 2-for-4 with one stolen base, one double, and one RBI. He is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last four games he's played.
North Rose-Wolcott's record now sits at 6-6. As for Williamson, their record is now 6-4.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Monday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. North Rose-Wolcott has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 8.1 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Williamson struggles in that department as they've been averaging 9 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
North Rose-Wolcott came up short against Williamson in their previous meeting back in April, falling 7-4. Can the Cougars avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
