Mulberry won against Lake Wales  last Tuesday with six  runs and they decided to stick to that  run total again  on Saturday. Mulberry beat the Gateway Charter Griffins by the very same score they won with in their prior game:  6-2. The  win was familiar territory for the Panthers, who have now won five  matchups in a row.
Mulberry got a great performance from  Jaden Sweeney as he  struck out eight batters over  six innings while giving up just one earned  (and one unearned) run off   five  hits. Sweeney has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't  given up  more than two  walks in seven consecutive appearances.
 At the plate,  the team  relied heavily on  Brock Thielen, who  scored a  run and  stole six bases while  getting on base  in all four of his plate appearances. Those  six  stolen bases gave  him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of  Griffin Cline, who  scored a  run and  stole a base while going 1-for-3.
Mulberry's record now sits at 15-5. As for Gateway Charter, they have  traveled a rocky road recently, having  lost six of their last seven contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 5-13 record  this season.
 Mulberry will look to defend their home field  on Monday against Victory Christian Academy  at 7:30  p.m. Mulberry's pitchers better be ready for this one: Victory Christian Academy has averaged an impressive 8.9  runs per game this season. As for Gateway Charter, they will head out to  square off against Oasis  at 6:00  p.m.  on Monday. The  game will  give Gateway Charter their first taste of in-conference action this season.
