The Oswego Indians will head out on the road to challenge the Altoona-Midway Jets at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Oswego will be looking to extend their current four-game winning streak.
Last Tuesday, Oswego took their match with ease, bagging a 64-35 win over Chetopa. The Indians have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won six contests by 21 points or more this season.
Owen Jackson continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, going 12 of 23 en route to 25 points and four steals. He continues to improve, besting his previous point total in each of the last four games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Josh Hutchinson, who posted seven points along with 12 rebounds and six steals.
Oswego smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 16 offensive boards. That's the most offensive rebounds they've posted since back in January of 2024.
Meanwhile, Altoona-Midway played a tough game on Tuesday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They took a blow against Marmaton Valley, falling 71-38. The match marked the Jets' lowest-scoring contest so far this season.
Oswego will have to contain William Stackhouse as he made an impact in Altoona-Midway's last game. He went 5 for 12 on his way to 17 points and seven boards. Stackhouse has been hot for a while, having also posted two or more steals the last 28 times he's played.
Oswego has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six games, which provided a nice bump to their 6-3 record this season. They've dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 28.4 points. As for Altoona-Midway, their loss ended a four-game streak of away wins dating back to last season and brought them to 3-4.
Rebounding is likely to be a big factor in this contest: Oswego has been smashing the glass this season, having averaged 28.4 rebounds per game. However, it's not like Altoona-Midway struggles in that department as they've been averaging 33.1 boards. With both teams battling to corral missed shots, we'll see if one team can grab an edge.
Oswego couldn't quite finish off Altoona-Midway in their previous matchup back in January of 2024 and fell 59-56. Can Oswego avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
