C2 District 9 recap November 5, 2013
Hershey extended the longest winning streak in C2 District 9 this week by beating West Holt, 13-6. The victory was the ninth in a row for the Panthers.
St. Patrick's took down Cambridge 23-0 last week, the largest margin of any game. Alex Harms threw for 69 yards and ran for 43 yards in the win.
Jake Whipple was a key player and the best on defense this week as the Trojans fell to the Irish. The 6-foot-4 junior recorded 1 fumble.
Gaige Marshall was a passing and rushing force as Hershey bested the Huskies.
Logan Weir and Marshall gave Ryan Smith's team a balanced attack through the air and ground last week. Weir threw for 96 yards and 2 touchdowns, while Marshall ran for 141 yards. Josh Margritz also contributed to the rushing game with 13 yards on the ground.
Cambridge's Taylor Kubik and Jake Witte led the league in both passing and receiving yards. 6-1 quarterback Kubik has thrown for 732 yards this season, while Witte has 17 catches for 363 yards. The Panthers' Marshall leads the league in rushing yards with 1,215.
Collin Pieper of the St. Patrick's is only 91 yards short of surpassing 1,000 rushing yards for the season. In 176 carries Pieper has put up 909 yards this year.
Kevin Dodson's team made the biggest leap in the national rankings this week, rising to 4,099 from 4,289. The advance stemmed from a 23-0 victory over Josh Graves' team last week.
