The South Oak Cliff Bears will face off against the Midlothian Heritage Jaguars at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Both teams are coming into the game red-hot, with South Oak Cliff sitting on nine straight wins and Midlothian Heritage on 12.
It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but South Oak Cliff had no problem doing just that on Saturday. They walked away with a 38-30 win over the Cardinals.
Among those leading the charge was Danny Green Jr, who rushed for 128 yards and three touchdowns.
Meanwhile, Midlothian Heritage gave up the first points last Friday, but they didn't let that get them down. They came out on top against Marshall by a score of 21-14. Given Midlothian Heritage's advantage in MaxPreps' Texas football rankings (they are ranked 35th, while Marshall is ranked 138th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Midlothian Heritage can attribute much of their success to Carter Rutenbar, who rushed for 51 yards and a touchdown on only seven carries, and also threw for 127 yards and a touchdown.
Their wins bumped South Oak Cliff to 10-2 and Melissa to 10-2.
South Oak Cliff didn't have too much breathing room in their game against Midlothian Heritage in their previous meeting back in November of 2022, but they still walked away with a 33-27 win. Does South Oak Cliff have another victory up their sleeve, or will Midlothian Heritage turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
