Basketball Recap: Blue Ridge Early College Comes Up Short

Blue Ridge Early College was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their 16th straight loss. They took a blow against the Hiwassee Dam Eagles, falling 76-37. Unfortunately, that's the third time they've come up short against the Eagles this season, with their most recent defeat being a 64-34 loss last Thursday.

Several Bobcats players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Isaiah Palestino, who posted two points in addition to five boards and five steals. Those five steals gave Palestino a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Conor McCall, who scored eight points.

Even though they lost, Blue Ridge Early College smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with ten offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive rebounds in five consecutive matches.

Blue Ridge Early College's defeat dropped their record down to 2-18. As for Hiwassee Dam, they are on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last nine games. That's provided a massive bump to their 13-11 record this season.

Blue Ridge Early College does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Hiwassee Dam, they wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 52-51 win against Highlands on the 20th.
