The Dawson Bulldogs will head out on the road to challenge the Mart Panthers at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Dawson has given up an average of 8.6 runs per game this season, but Tuesday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.
Dawson lost 18-1 to Axtell on Friday. The Bulldogs have struggled against the Longhorns recently, as the game was their eighth consecutive lost matchup.
Chloe Boatright made the most of her time in the batter's box despite the final result and went 1-for-2 with one home run.
Fans were treated to a battle of the Panthers on Friday. Mart put the hurt on Abbott with a sharp 8-2 win. Mart might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won nine contests by six runs or more this season.
Marley Maas made a splash no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out 14 batters over seven innings while giving up just two earned runs off three hits. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't tossed less than eight strikeouts in four consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one run, one double, and one RBI.
In other batting news, Izzy Vega was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two stolen bases and two runs. That's the most stolen bases she has posted since back in February. Giselle Chavez also deserves some recognition as she snagged her first stolen bases of the season.
The victory made it two in a row for Mart and bumps their season record up to 13-5-1. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 7 runs in those games. As for Dawson, their defeat dropped their record down to 13-11.
Tuesday's game will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Dawson hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .323. However, it's not like Mart struggles in that department as they've averaged .328. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Dawson might still be hurting after the 12-2 loss they got from Mart in their previous meeting back in April of 2025. Can the Bulldogs avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
