Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Duncanville). Their pitcher stepped up to hand the Bowie Volunteers a 16-0 shutout on Tuesday. With that victory, the Panthers and Pantherettes brought their scoring average up to 7.1 runs per game.
Madison Lee made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. Furthermore, she didn't allow a single earned run, the first time she has blanked an opponent since back in February of 2024. She was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. That home run was her first of the season.
In other batting news, Duncanville got a big performance out of Khloe Rocha, who scored a run and stole two bases while going 1-for-3. Those stolen bases were Rocha's first of the season. The team also got some help courtesy of Brianna Vann, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-2.
Duncanville always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .593. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Duncanville pushed their record up to 4-2-1 with the win, which was their fifth straight at home dating back to last season. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.6 runs over those games. As for Bowie, they now have a losing record of 2-3.
Looking ahead, Duncanville will square off against South Hills at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. Bowie will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Arlington at 6:00 p.m. on March 14th.
