The MacDonald Condor will head out on the road to face off against the Saratoga Falcons at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. MacDonald has given up an average of 10 runs per game this season, but Friday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.
MacDonald came up short against Santa Clara on Wednesday, falling 19-5. The Condor have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
MacDonald saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Natalie Salceda, who went 2-for-3 with one run and one RBI. Another was Kyleena Stone, who went 1-for-2 with one run and one RBI.
Meanwhile, Saratoga waltzed into their game on Tuesday with four straight wins... but they left with five. They never let the Pioneers get on the board and left with an 11-0 victory. Considering the Falcons have won nine contests by more than seven runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.
Not much got past Saira Ramakrishnan, who gave up just three hits and racked up 14 Ks to keep Cupertino off the board. Ramakrishnan has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in five consecutive appearances.
At the plate, Saratoga got a massive performance out of Sydney Riera, who went 3-for-4 with three stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI. Those three stolen bases gave Riera a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Alyssa Tham, who went 2-for-5 with two stolen bases, three runs, and one RBI.
Saratoga was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .400. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Cupertino only posted a batting average of .111.
Saratoga's win was their fifth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 14-2. Those road victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.2 runs on average over those games. As for MacDonald, they now have a losing record of 5-6.
MacDonald might still be hurting after the 15-2 defeat they got from Saratoga when the teams last played back in March. Can the Condor avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
