The Homer-Center Wildcats will challenge the Kiski School Cougars at 7:00 p.m. on Saturday. Homer-Center is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8.8 runs per game this season.
Homer-Center will roll into the game after a wild two-game stretch: they didn't score any runs on Tuesday, then bounced right back against West Shamokin on Thursday. The Wildcats walked away with a 15-10 victory over the Wolves.
Brayden Rado was incredible, getting on base in four of his five plate appearances with four runs and one double. Another player making a difference was Braden Dunn, who went 2-for-5 with two runs and two RBI.
Meanwhile, Kiski School was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They were a single run away from ending the streak, but they lost a 5-4 heartbreaker at the hands of Obama Academy of International Studies.
Cy Zufall spent all 5.1 innings played on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered five runs (all of which were unearned) on two hits and racked up nine Ks. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two hits in three consecutive appearances.
At the plate, Kiski School saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Owen Sinclair, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one run and one double.
Homer-Center has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won eight of their last nine contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 13-4 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.2 runs on average over those games. As for Kiski School, their loss dropped their record down to 1-6.
Kiski School's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Homer-Center has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .470. It's a different story for Kiski School, though, as they've only averaged .362. Will they be able to contain Homer-Center's hitters?
Homer-Center took their victory against Kiski School in their previous meeting back in April of 2024 by a conclusive 11-4 score. Will the Wildcats repeat their success, or do the Cougars have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
