The Marlboro County Bulldogs will head out on the road to challenge the Crestwood Knights at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty point totals in their previous games.
On Wednesday, even if it wasn't a dominant performance, Marlboro County beat Lakewood 55-50.
Marlboro County relied on the efforts of Nori Adams, who scored 15 points, and Jaitez Barbour, who scored 16 points. Adams is on a roll when it comes to points, as he's now scored 15 or more in the last four games he's played. Justin Purvis was another key contributor, scoring eight points.
Meanwhile, Crestwood entered their tilt with Lake City with six consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with seven. Everything went Crestwood's way against Lake City on Monday as Crestwood made off with a 76-50 victory. Crestwood pushed the score to 63-31 by the end of the third, a deficit Lake City cut but never quite recovered from.
Marlboro County's win bumped their record up to 10-6. As for Crestwood, they pushed their record up to 18-1 with that victory, which was their tenth straight on the road.
Marlboro County and Crestwood were neck-and-neck when the teams last played back in January of 2023, but Marlboro County came up empty-handed after a 59-58 defeat. Can Marlboro County avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
