This season hasn't been kind to the Highland Rams, who are still winless after their tenth match. They fell 50-37 to East on Friday. Highland was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as East apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in February of 2023.
Despite the loss, Highland still got an impressive performance from Danae Asiata, who scored 20 points along with five rebounds. That was a full 54.1% of Highland's points, marking the sixth time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points. Another player making a difference was Malia Kaufusi, who scored six points along with seven rebounds.
Highland bumped their record down to 0-10 with that loss, which was their seventh straight at home. That rough patch could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 29.3 points per game. As for East, their victory ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 5-9.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Highland will face off against Skyline at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Hopefully Skyline focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 17 last Tuesday. As for East, they will head out on the road to take on West at 5:15 p.m. on Tuesday. West presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than East in Utah (West is ranked 25th, while East is ranked 85th).
