Despite the loss, Interlachen saw an underclassman step up: freshman DJ McKinnon rushed for 108 yards and one score, and also threw for 236 yards and a pair of TDs while picking up 10.7 yards per attempt. Those 108 rushing yards set a new season-high mark for McKinnon. Another player making a difference was Brody Stevens, who rushed for 65 yards and a pair of touchdowns.
The victory snapped Hilliard's losing streak at four games and leaves them with a 3-5 record. As for Interlachen, their defeat was their third straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 2-7.
