After a string of three wins, the Ash Fork Spartans's good fortune finally ran out on Saturday. They were the victim of a tough 55-30 loss at the hands of El Capitan/Centennial Academy. Ash Fork was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as El Capitan/Centennial Academy apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in January of 2023.
Several Spartans players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Gracie Staples, who scored eight points along with seven rebounds.
Ash Fork's defeat dropped their record down to 7-13. As for El Capitan/Centennial Academy, they are on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six matches, which provided a nice bump to their 10-5 record this season.
Ash Fork will be playing in front of their home fans against Grand Canyon at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Hopefully Grand Canyon focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 24 on Saturday. As for El Capitan/Centennial Academy, they will head out on the road to face off against Fredonia at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Fredonia is also coming in off of a big victory, so somebody is in for a big reversal of fortune.
