The Plainfield South Cougars will head out on the road to face off against the Plainfield Central Wildcats at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. Plainfield South will be strutting in after a win while Plainfield Central will be coming in after a defeat.
Even though Plainfield East scored an imposing 56 points on Tuesday, Plainfield South still came out on top. Plainfield South secured a 61-56 W over Plainfield East. The victory made it back-to-back wins for Plainfield South.
Jazlynn Foster and Destynia Mcgruder were among the main playmakers for Plainfield South as the former dropped a double-double on 13 points and 17 rebounds and the latter dropped a double-double on 18 points and 12 rebounds. Mcgruder has been hot recently, having posted two or more blocks the last five times she's played. Demi Page was another key contributor, scoring 15 points along with 7 rebounds.
Meanwhile, Plainfield Central's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Thursday after their third straight loss. They suffered a tough 65-40 defeat at the hands of Romeoville. While losing is never fun, Plainfield Central can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Illinois basketball rankings (they are ranked 508th, while Romeoville is ranked 164th).
Plainfield South's victory lifted them to 4-4 while Plainfield East's loss dropped them down to 4-5.
Plainfield South didn't have too much breathing room in their match against Plainfield Central in their previous matchup back in February, but they still walked away with a 52-48 win. Will Plainfield South repeat their success, or does Plainfield Central have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
