Softball Recap: Whetstone Sets Scoring Season-High Against East

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Whetstone). Everything went their way against the East Tigers on Monday as they made off with a 21-3 victory. The Braves haven't had any issues with the Tigers recently, as the game was their seventh consecutive win against them.

Avery Bair made a splash no matter where she played. She struck out eight batters over 3.1 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Bair was also big at the plate, scoring two runs and stealing a base while getting on base in three of her five plate appearances.

In other batting news, Whetstone got a massive performance out of Sara Kraus, who scored four runs while getting on base in four of her five plate appearances. Those four runs gave Kraus a new career-high. Jillian Sherwood was another key player, scoring three runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-3.

Whetstone hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. They are a perfect 5-0 when they post two or more strikeouts.

Whetstone's victory bumped their record up to 7-5. As for East, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-4.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Whetstone will venture away from home to square off against Mifflin at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for East, they will square off against Independence at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
