Softball Recap: Wimberley Now 7-1 over Last Eight Games

Wimberley had to skate by with only a one-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the 15-run drubbing they dealt Bandera on Tuesday. The Texans' pitcher stepped up to hand the BULLDOGS a 15-0 shutout. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 17-2 back in March.

Charlotte Woodward looked comfortable as she didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits over four innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in four consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Ella P was incredible, scoring four runs and stealing a base while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances. Those four runs gave her a new career-high. Emorie G was another key player, scoring three runs and stealing a base while going 3-for-4.

Wimberley was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .478. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Bandera only posted a batting average of .214.

Wimberley has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight games. That's provided a nice bump to their 10-14 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.4 runs on average over those games. As for Bandera, their defeat was their ninth straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 3-18.

Coming up, Wimberley will venture away from home to face off against Fredericksburg at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Billies will roll in looking for their fifth straight win, something the Texans surely won't give up without a fight. As for Bandera, they will face off against Navarro at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The BULLDOGS are facing the Panthers at the right time seeing as the Panthers are stuck on a four-game losing streak.
