The Lovejoy Wildcats lost a heartbreaker to the Newton Rams when they met back in January of 2016, and they left with a heavy heart again on Friday. Lovejoy was dealt a 61-32 loss at the hands of Newton. Lovejoy has not had much luck with Newton recently, as the team's come up short the last four times they've met.
Newton was led to victory by Mya Perry and Sanaa Tripp. Perry scored 14 points along with 3 steals, while Tripp dropped a double-double on 16 points and 13 rebounds. The game was Tripp's fifth in a row with at least ten points. Imari Humphrey was another key contributor, scoring 11 points.
Lovejoy now has a losing record at 1-2. As for Newton, the win makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 4-1.
Lovejoy will be staying on the road on Tuesday to face off against Rockdale County at 6:00 p.m. on November 28th. As for Newton, they will face off against Jackson at 5:30 p.m. on Saturday. Hopefully Jackson focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up nine on Friday.
