Sparks is 1-9 against South Tahoe since December of 2018 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Sparks Railroaders will be playing in front of their home fans against the South Tahoe Vikings at 7:00 p.m. Hopefully Sparks focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up ten on Wednesday.
Last Wednesday, Sparks ended up a good deal behind Wooster and lost 65-49. Sparks has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Despite the loss, Sparks had strong showings from Jaoquin "JJ" Tagulao, who scored 15 points along with eight rebounds and six assists, and Eli Flores, who scored 17 points along with two steals. Tagulao has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last 15 times he's played. Adrian Banuelos Puga was another key contributor, scoring eight points along with eight rebounds.
South Tahoe was handed a three-point defeat in their last contest, but they sure didn't let that happen against Truckee on Wednesday. South Tahoe simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Truckee 65-38 on the road. That 27 point margin sets a new team best for South Tahoe this season.
Sparks has not been sharp recently as the team's lost 15 of their last 17 games, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-19 record this season. As for South Tahoe, the win got them back to even at 12-12.
Things could have been worse for Sparks, but things could have been a whole lot better as they took a 62-44 loss to South Tahoe when the teams last played back in January.
