4A Mid-South recap Oct. 23, 2012
The biggest upset of the week belonged to South View, who took down 142nd ranked South View, 34-28. Spencer Faircloth threw for 173 yards and three touchdowns in the win.
Tim Allen was the most productive running back in 4A Mid-South this week. In 21 carries, he ran for 265 yards as Pine Forest defeated the Tigers. Teammate Devonte Baker added to the ground attack by rushing for 24 yards.
Humphrey was the best wideout in the league this week as the Colts topped South View. Humphrey racked up nine receptions for 130 yards. Austin Davis helped Cape Fear's passing attack out by catching two balls for 36 yards.
Cape Fear's Faircloth and Humphrey have formed a dynamic duo this season, leading the league in both passing and receiving yards. Faircloth has thrown for 1427 yards this season, while Humphrey, a 5-foot-10 receiver, has 50 catches for 769 yards. E.E. Smith's Phillip Bell leads the league in rushing yards with 1092.
Two of the top units in 4A Mid-South will face off this week when Jack Britt takes on the Trojans. The Buccaneers' offense has recorded 279 points this season, making them No. 1 in the league, while Pine Forest has permitted only 132 on the year.
A big matchup in the league this week will be when Bill Sochovka's team takes on Jack Britt. The Trojans are currently in third, while Brian Rimpf's team is in second.
The Colts led the league in scoring this week after putting up 34 points on Randy Ledford's team. Faircloth in the win.
