The Grovetown Warriors will be staying on the road on Wednesday to face off against the Burke County Bears at 1:00 p.m. on December 27th. Hopefully Grovetown focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 20 on Friday.
Last Friday, Grovetown came up short against Butler and fell 39-28. While losing is never fun, Grovetown can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Georgia basketball rankings (they are ranked 356th, while Butler is ranked 46th).
Despite their loss, Grovetown saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Rebecca Jones, who scored six points, was perhaps the best of all. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Jones has scored all season.
Meanwhile, Burke County scored the most points they've had all season to find success last Saturday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Jefferson County 68-9 on the road. That 68-9 margin sets a new team best for Burke County this season.
Grovetown's loss dropped their record down to 1-7. As for Burke County, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 3-4.
Grovetown strolled past Burke County in their previous meeting back in December of 2016 by a score of 77-62. Will Grovetown repeat their success, or does Burke County have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
