Arcadia extended their losing streak (dating back to last season) to six on Friday, dropping them down to 0-4. They were a single run away from ending the streak, but they lost a 12-11 heartbreaker at the hands of the Eleva-Strum Cardinals. On the bright side, the 11- run performance marked the Raiders' highest-scoring game to date.
Deklyn Grzadzielewski was cooking despite his team's loss, going 2-for-4 with three runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. Those hits marked the first that he has got this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Carter Wegman, who went 2-for-5 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double.
As for Eleva-Strum, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record up to 3-1. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 14.0 runs over those games.
On Eleva-Strum's side, Calvin Barneson made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Barneson has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two hits in three consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, earning three runs and one stolen base.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Titan Miller, who went 1-for-4 with three runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. Those three runs gave him a new career-high. Player #17 was another key player, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with one stolen base, one run, and one double.
Looking ahead, Arcadia will host Black River Falls at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Eleva-Strum, they will venture away from home to take on Abbotsford at 4:45 p.m. on Monday.
