Baseball Recap: Moniteau Takes a Loss

Moniteau dropped down to 8-6 on Tuesday, ending the team's three-game streak of wins. They lost 7-1 to the Greenville Trojans. The Warriors were red-hot at the plate heading into the game (they scored no less than ten runs in the three matchups prior), but the Trojans' pitchers proved too tough.

As for Greenville, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 11-3. The result was nothing new for the Trojans, who have now won eight contests by six runs or more so far this season.

For Greenville's part, Nolan Wilkerson was a standout: he went 3-for-4 with three RBI and one stolen base. Another player making a difference was Justin Schell, who went 1-for-3 with two stolen bases and two runs.

Moniteau and Greenville should be looking forward to their upcoming games as both have a sizable advantage in the MaxPreps Pennsylvania Rankings. The Warriors (ranked 233rd) will meet Clarion-Limestone (ranked 569th) at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Meanwhile, Greenville will take on Sharpsville at 4:00 p.m. on Monday with a big rank advantage (127 vs. 260). The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Trojans 3.9, the Blue Devils 3.8) so any runs scored will be well earned.
