4A Conference 16 recap October 8, 2013
Scotland added to the longest winning streak in 4A Conference 16 this week by beating Goldsboro, 35-14. The victory was the sixth in a row for the Fighting Scots.
Hoke County took down Westover 56-14 last week, the largest margin of any game. Jacob Rushing ran for 136 yards during the win.
The Bucks' offense was unstoppable this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. On the ground Rushing contributed 136 yards.
Rushing was a passing and rushing force as Hoke County topped the Wolverines.
Rushing was the best running back in the league this week. Teammate Jamal Darden added to the ground attack by rushing for 133 yards.
6-foot-0 quarterback Thriston Lowry of Purnell Swett is the league leader in passing yards this season with 737. He has also thrown 5 touchdowns. The leading receiver in the league this season is Raheem Bowden. The Richmond star has 16 catches for 388 yards.
As it stands, the Rams are in fourth, while Scotland is in first.
Milton Butts' team made the biggest leap in the national rankings this week, rising to 7,492 from 8,187. The advance stemmed from a 56-14 victory over Westover last week.
