Whiting's Ethan Young recorded the longest rushing play in Greater South Shore this season in his game against Calumet last week. Young's team topped the Warriors as he sprinted for 76 yards on the play and finished with 212 in all.
Whiting added to the longest winning streak in the league this week by beating Calumet, 41-22. The victory was the seventh in a row for Jeff Cain's team.
The Oilers' offense was unstoppable this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. AJ Veloz threw for 241 and 1 touchdown and Petruf Martin had 112 yards receiving. On the ground Young chipped in 212 yards. Keegan Rooke helped Whiting's passing attack out by catching 5 balls for 93 yards.

North Newton's Jono Bigger and Schuyler Gargano led the league in both passing and receiving yards. 6-3 quarterback Bigger has thrown for 1,637 yards this season, while Gargano has 18 catches for 476 yards. Young from Whiting leads the league in rushing with 1,002 yards.
The top two teams in Greater South Shore will face off this week when first place Whiting takes on second place River Forest. Last week, the Oilers topped Calumet, while River Forest lost to Hammond Bishop Noll.
