Caruthers hasn't had much luck against Chowchilla recently, but that could start to change on Monday. The Blue Raiders will face off against the Tribe at 4:00 p.m. Both come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Caruthers played against Fresno Christian on Friday and won via forfeit.
Chowchilla is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. Their pitchers stepped up to hand Sierra a 24-0 shutout on Friday. The result was nothing new for the Tribe, who have now won 11 games by six runs or more so far this season.
Ava Diaz and Heaven Moore made a big impact no matter where they played. Throwing, Diaz didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits over four innings pitched. Meanwhile, Moore pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Diaz has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up a single earned run in three consecutive appearances. At bat, Diaz went a perfect 3-for-3 with two doubles, two RBI, and one run, while Moore fired off two home runs, five runs, and four RBI while going 3-for-5. Those two home runs gave Moore a new career-high.
In other batting news, Chowchilla got a massive performance out of Kasey Vlot, who went 3-for-5 with four runs, three RBI, and one triple. Those four runs gave Vlot a new career-high. Jenesis Guardado was another key player, going 2-for-4 with four RBI, two runs, and two doubles.
Chowchilla was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .526. They are undefeated (11-0) when they post a batting average of .375 or better.
Chowchilla has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight contests. That's provided a massive bump to their 12-6-1 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 14.1 runs over those games. As for Caruthers, the victory got them back to even at 7-7.
Caruthers might still be hurting after the 21-4 defeat they got from Chowchilla when the teams last played back in April of 2025. Can the Blue Raiders avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
