The Minersville Battlin' Miners lost against the Tri-Valley Bulldogs back in December of 2023, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Monday. Minersville fell to Tri-Valley 55-50. The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Minersville in their matchups with Tri-Valley: they've now lost nine in a row.
Despite the loss, Minersville had strong showings from Dante Carr, who scored 18 points along with six rebounds and three steals, and Bradley Kostishak, who scored 18 points. The contest was Carr's 12th in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Brady Eisenhart, who scored six points.
Tri-Valley's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Noah Porter led the charge by scoring 14 points. Those 14 points set a new season-high mark for him. The team also got some help courtesy of Luke Wehry, who scored 14 points.
Minersville's defeat dropped their record down to 8-5. As for Tri-Valley, the win for they keeps them at an undefeated 10-0.
Minersville will be playing at home against Neumann Regional Academy at 7:30 p.m. on Monday. Tri-Valley is on the road again on Thursday and play against Mahanoy Area at 7:30 p.m. on January 11th. Mahanoy Area is on a seven-game streak of home wins, Tri-Valley a six-game streak of away wins (dating back to last season)-- so someone will have to leave a streak behind on the court.
