Fairland won the last time they faced Portsmouth West and things went their way on Wednesday too. The Fairland Dragons simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat the Portsmouth West Senators 72-31. The Dragons have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won 12 contests by 30 points or more this season.
Fairland's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Kamryn Barnitz led the charge by going 9 of 19 en route to 24 points and five steals. That's the most points Barnitz has posted since back in December of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Bailey Russell, who went 6 for 14 on her way to 17 points and seven boards.
Fairland's win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 15-3. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 71.7 points per game. As for Portsmouth West, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost three of their last four matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 11-6 record this season.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Fairland will square off against Gallia Academy at 6:45 p.m. on Friday. Fairland knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past three games -- so hopefully Gallia Academy likes a good challenge. As for Portsmouth West, they and Minford will face off at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday without much rest having both just played. Minford will roll in looking for their eighth straight victory, something Portsmouth West surely won't give up without a fight.
