The Carmel Greyhounds will head out to challenge the Harrison Raiders at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. Harrison took a loss in their last matchup and will be looking to turn the tables on Carmel, who comes in off a win.
Carmel was handed a heart-breaking two-run defeat in their last game, but they sure didn't let that happen against Oak Hill on Friday. The Greyhounds blew past the Golden Eagles 10-0. The Greyhounds might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won eight contests by seven runs or more this season.
Carmel got a great performance from Emily Smith as she didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit over five innings pitched. What's more, Smith posted four strikeouts, the most she's had since back in April.
On the hitting side, Chloe Junkersfield was incredible, going a perfect 2-for-2 with four RBI, two runs, and one double. That's the most runs she has posted since back in April. Another player making a difference was Taylor Vietch, who went 1-for-2 with two stolen bases and two runs.
Meanwhile, after soaring to ten runs the game before, Harrison was a bit more limited in their matchup on Thursday. They came up short against Avon, falling 8-2.
Harrison saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Mallory Duell, who went 1-for-3 with two RBI and one double.
Harrison's loss dropped their record down to 9-8. As for Carmel, the victory got them back to even at 11-11.
Fans could be in store for some top-tier slugging on Monday. Carmel hasn't had any problems when it comes to power this season, having averaged 0.7 home runs per game. However, it's not like Harrison struggles in that department as they've been averaging 0.6 home runs. With so much power on both teams, it'll be down to the pitchers to keep the mound locked down.
Carmel beat Harrison 3-0 when the teams last played back in May of 2025. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Greyhounds since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
