The Southern Lee Cavaliers typically have all the answers at home, but on Friday the Pinecrest Patriots proved too difficult a challenge. They snuck past the Cavaliers with a 62-57 victory. Having run the score up that high, both teams probably have some extra defensive drills coming up.
Javion Saunders was a one-man wrecking crew for Pinecrest as he scored 24 points along with two steals. Elijah Melton was another key contributor, scoring eight points along with 11 rebounds and three blocks.
Pinecrest now has a winning record of 9-8. As for Southern Lee, their loss dropped their record down to 17-3.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Pinecrest will square off against Lee County at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Lee County is strutting with some offensive muscle, as they've averaged 57.4 points per game this season. As for Southern Lee, they will head out on the road to challenge Hoke County at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. One thing working in Southern Lee's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last nine contests.
