The dominant performance gave West a new career-high in points. Becca Safavian was another key player, dropping a double-double with ten points and ten boards.
Meanwhile, Coolidge had already proven themselves in the regular season and they didn't miss a beat now that it's playoff time. They came out on top against Eastern by a score of 54-46 on Thursday.
Coolidge's win came from a few key players Georgetown Visitation Prep will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Josslyn Derricott, who dropped a double-double with 13 points and 14 rebounds. She is on a roll when it comes to boards, as she's now pulled down nine or more in each of the last six games she's played. Another player making a difference was Jaylyn Derricott, who posted 12 points in addition to seven rebounds and three steals.
Coolidge smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 13 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least nine offensive boards in 15 consecutive matchups.
Coolidge's win was their 13th straight at home, which pushed their record up to 27-3. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 60.5 points over those games. As for Georgetown Visitation Prep, their defeat dropped their record down to 14-12.
Rebounding is likely to be a big factor in this contest: Georgetown Visitation Prep has been crashing the boards this season, having averaged 32.2 boards per game. However, it's not like Coolidge struggles in that department as they've been averaging 30.8 rebounds. With both teams battling to corral missed shots, we'll see if one team can grab an edge.
Georgetown Visitation Prep came up short against Coolidge in their previous meeting back in December of 2024, falling 66-58. Can Georgetown Visitation Prep avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
