The Concord Yellowjackets will be playing at home against the Athens Indians at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Concord will be looking to keep their six-game home win streak alive.
Last Tuesday, Concord strolled past Quincy with points to spare, taking the game 47-30. Given Concord's advantage in MaxPreps' Michigan basketball rankings (they are ranked 227th, while Quincy is ranked 497th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Concord got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Grace Thorrez out in front who almost dropped a double-double on ten points and nine rebounds. Thorrez is on a roll when it comes to rebounds, as she's now pulled down eight or more in the last four games she's played. Maria Stevens was another key contributor, scoring eight points along with nine rebounds and two steals.
Meanwhile, Athens was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap on Friday as they fell 33-28 to Mendon.
Concord's victory bumped their record up to 11-3. As for Athens, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost three of their last four matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-7 record this season.
