The Peninsula Panthers will venture away from home to face off against the North Saxons at 3:15 p.m. on Monday. Peninsula hasn't scored more than two runs for three games straight, a trend the team is eager to reverse.
South East hit Peninsula with a seven-run second inning on Saturday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Panthers lost 12-2 to the Jaguars. That's two games in a row now that the Panthers have lost by exactly ten runs.
Peninsula saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Sophia Bruno, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one stolen base and one run.
Meanwhile, North got their first taste of in-conference action on Thursday and they started things off strong. They walked away with a 9-5 victory over West.
Kloie Iboy spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered four earned (and one unearned) runs on nine hits and racked up six Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in six consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on AJ (Audriana) Bocanegra, who fired off two home runs and three runs while going 2-for-3. That's the most runs she has posted since back in March. Rylee Joyce was another key player, going 3-for-4 with two runs, two doubles, and one stolen base.
North lost a few balls and finished the game with two home runs. That's the most home runs they've managed all season.
North's win was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 13-7. The road victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.0 runs on average over those games. As for Peninsula, their defeat dropped their record down to 7-9.
Monday's matchup will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Peninsula hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .416. However, it's not like North struggles in that department as they've averaged .336. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Peninsula skirted past North 7-6 in their previous meeting back in March of 2025. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Panthers since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
