The Elbert Bulldogs's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Saturday after their third straight loss. They took a 50-33 bruising from Limon. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Elbert has scored all season.
Elbert's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Logan LaFollette, who scored 15 points along with eight rebounds. Caleb Cornell was another key contributor, scoring nine points.
Jordan Rockwell continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines for Limon, scoring 17 points along with five rebounds and five steals. Another player making a difference was Treyton Marx, who scored nine points along with 12 rebounds.
Elbert's defeat dropped their record down to 3-3. As for Limon, the victory (which was their sixth in a row) raised their record to 7-2.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Elbert will play host again and welcome Deer Trail, where tip off is scheduled for 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. Deer Trail comes in on a streak of failing to score more than 20 points in their last four games, a trend the team is of course eager to reverse. As for Limon, Limon and Evangel Christian Academy will face off at 7:30 p.m. on January 18th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Evangel Christian Academy will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Colorado Rankings (they are ranked 246th, while Limon is ranked 93rd).
