Ulysses is 0-10 against Hugoton since January of 2019 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Ulysses Tigers will look to defend their home court against the Hugoton Eagles at 7:30 p.m. Both teams come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Ulysses' four-game losing streak came to an end on Tuesday. They walked away with a 57-50 victory over Wichita County. The score was all tied up 22-22 at the break, but Ulysses was the better team in the second half.
Meanwhile, Hugoton was able to grind out a solid win over Scott on Tuesday, taking the game 50-37. Given Hugoton's advantage in MaxPreps' Kansas basketball rankings (they are ranked 11th, while Scott is ranked 76th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Ulysses' win bumped their record up to 5-8. As for Hugoton, they are on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last nine matches, which provided a nice bump to their 11-2 record this season.
Ulysses was taken down by Hugoton 68-22 in their previous meeting back in February of 2023. Can Ulysses avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
