The Grand Canyon Phantoms lost against the Fredonia Lynx on January 12th, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Saturday. Grand Canyon fell 31-22 to Fredonia. Grand Canyon has struggled against Fredonia recently, as their game on Saturday was their third consecutive lost matchup.
Grand Canyon's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Jaemie Jensen, who scored six points along with eight steals. Jensen is absolutely dominating the steal category: she's posted at least two every time she's taken the court this season. Ellanina Nanacasia was another key contributor, scoring nine points.
Fredonia can attribute much of their success to Lexie Heaton, who scored 12 points. Another player making a difference was Nevaeh Benson, who scored four points along with five rebounds and two steals.
Grand Canyon has traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost three of their last four matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 9-14 record this season. As for Fredonia, the win (which was their sixth in a row) raised their record to 13-7.
Grand Canyon does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Fredonia also has no future games currently scheduled.
