The Hammond Golden Bears put another one in the bag on Wednesday to keep their perfect season alive. They blew past Howard 57-29 at home. Considering Hammond has won seven contests by more than 20 points this season, Wednesday's blowout was nothing new.
Hammond's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Nia Green, who dropped a double-double on 21 points and 14 rebounds. That makes it three consecutive games in which Green has scored at least 25% of Hammond's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Sara Yarnell, who dropped a double-double on ten points and ten rebounds.
Hammond's win was their tenth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 11-0. As for Howard, their defeat ended a seven-game streak of away wins dating back to last season and brought them to 7-3.
Hammond will be playing at home against Centennial at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Centennial will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Maryland Rankings (they are ranked 166th, while Hammond is ranked 23rd). Howard's road trip will continue as they head out to face Glenelg on January 12th.
