The Ravenswood Red Devils's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their sixth straight loss. They took a serious blow against St. Marys, falling 46-6. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Ravenswood in their matchups with St. Marys: they've now lost four in a row.
St. Marys' victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Ashton Boron, who rushed for 157 yards and two touchdowns on only ten carries. Boron has been hot recently, having posted 100 or more rushing yards the last three times he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Josiah Demoss, who rushed for 45 yards and four touchdowns.
Ravenswood bumped their record down to 1-9 with that loss, which was their eighth straight at home dating back to last season. Admittedly, the team was facing some tough opposition over that stretch, including 11-0 Wahama and 11-0 Williamstown (their opponents had an average overall winning percentage of 64.9% over those games). As for St. Marys, the win (which was their fifth in a row) raised their record to 9-2.
Ravenswood does not have any more games scheduled as of now. St. Marys will look to defend their home field on Saturday against East Hardy at 1:30 p.m. East Hardy is also coming in off of a big victory, so somebody is in for a big reversal of fortune.
