The Decatur Golden Gators typically have all the answers at home, but on Monday the Kentridge Chargers proved too difficult a challenge. They came out on top against the Golden Gators by a score of 59-48. The win was familiar territory for Kentridge who now have three in a row.
Kentridge can attribute much of their success to Sophie Solomon, who scored 16 points along with seven rebounds. That's the first time this season that Solomon scored 15 or more points. Kalia Washington was another key contributor, scoring 12 points.
Despite the loss, Decatur still got an impressive performance from Kaira Creary, who scored 13 points along with three steals. Another player making a difference was Jeralynn Sevaaetasi, who scored 13 points along with five rebounds and two steals.
Kentridge's win bumped their record up to 11-7. As for Decatur, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 11-6.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Kentridge will be staying on the road on Saturday to face off against Kennedy Catholic at 12:30 p.m. on January 27th. As for Decatur, they will face off against Kentwood at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday.
