After a dominant victory in their match last week, Elk Rapids were humbled on Friday. They were within striking distance but couldn't close the gap, as they fell 30-36 to Benzie Central. Elk Rapids were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Benzie Central apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat from the last time the teams met up.
Elk Rapids's loss came about despite a quality game from sophomore Gordon Lafontaine, who passed for 257 yards and 3 touchdowns. Senior Nick Aseritis was in the mix, too, providing Elk Rapids with 2 touchdowns.
The loss dropped Elk Rapids' record to 3-1. The win bumped Benzie Central's record up to 3-1.
Next week Elk Rapids take on Mancelona at 7:00 PM. As for Benzie Central, they will face off against Cheboygan.
