Manti hasn't had much luck against Canyon View recently, but that could start to change on Wednesday. The Templars will look to defend their home field against the Falcons at 3:00 p.m. After the two teams made easy work of their previous opponents, one won't be so lucky on Wednesday.
The home team had won the previous three meetings between Manti and Carbon, and Manti kept the tradition alive. The Templars were the clear victors by a 10-3 margin over the Dinos on Tuesday.
Lane Cox made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching 1.1 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Manti is 5-1 when he allows at most one earned run, but 3-6 otherwise. Cox was even better at the plate, scoring three runs while going 4-for-4. Those four hits gave him a new career-high.

Cox wasn't the only one making solid contact as seven players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Kellen Lund, who went 2-for-4 with one home run and two RBI. That's the most hits Lund has posted since back in March. Porter Daniels also deserves some recognition as he snagged his first stolen base of the season.
Manti was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .429. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Carbon only posted a batting average of .276.
Meanwhile, Canyon View waltzed into their game on Tuesday with 12 straight wins... but they left with 13. They blew past the Rabbits 16-3. Considering the Falcons have won nine contests by more than five runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.
Zach Maine was a major factor no matter where he played. He struck out six batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits (and only one walk). He has been consistent : he hasn't given up more than one earned run in six consecutive appearances. He was also stellar in the batter's box, going 1-for-2 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI.
In other batting news, Canyon View got a massive performance out of Price Atwood, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, two stolen bases, and three RBI. Atwood is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last four games he's played. Brady Anderson was another key player, going 3-for-4 with four RBI, two runs, and one triple.
Manti has been performing well recently as they've won six of their last eight matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 8-7 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.9 runs over those games. As for Canyon View, they pushed their record up to 16-3 with the victory, which was their sixth straight at home dating back to last season.
Wednesday's game might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Manti has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .433. However, it's not like Canyon View struggles in that department as they've averaged .474. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Manti suffered a grim 17-7 defeat to Canyon View in their previous matchup two weeks ago. Will the Templars have more luck at home instead of on the road? Come back here after the game to get an analysis of the match and other baseball content.
