Having just played yesterday, the Mountain Ridge Sentinels will jump right back in to play the Highland Rams at 11:30 a.m. on Friday. Mountain Ridge is coming into the match on a three-game losing streak.
On Thursday, it was a hard-fought game, but Mountain Ridge had to settle for a 56-53 defeat against Skyline. The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Mountain Ridge in their matchups with Skyline: they've now lost three in a row.
Even though the team lost, they still had their share of impressive performances. One of the most dominant came from Wyatt Sylvester, who scored 13 points along with six rebounds and five assists. He set a new season high mark in steals with five. The team also got some help courtesy of Spencer Krainich, who scored 15 points along with seven rebounds and three blocks.
Meanwhile, Highland's game last Wednesday was all tied up 28-28 at the half, but sadly for them it didn't stay that way. They took a 66-50 bruising from Riverton. Highland has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Like Mountain Ridge, Highland lost despite seeing results from several players. George Mcconkie led the charge by scoring 13 points along with eight rebounds. Isaiah Drisdom was another key contributor, scoring 14 points.
Mountain Ridge's record is now 5-5. Highland's record now sits at 5-3.
Friday's contest is shaping up to be a scrappy matchup: Mountain Ridge have been smashing the glass this season, having only averaged 27.8 rebounds per game. It's a different story for Highland, though, as they've been averaging only 33.4 rebounds per game. Given Mountain Ridge's sizeable advantage in that area, Highland will need to find a way to close that gap.
Mountain Ridge didn't have too much breathing room in their contest against Highland in their previous matchup back in November of 2022, but they still walked away with a 55-49 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for Mountain Ridge since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
