Even though the Creekside Seminoles scored an imposing 63 points on Saturday, the Mays Raiders still came out on top. Mays enjoyed a cozy 78-63 win over Creekside. Given Mays' advantage in MaxPreps' Georgia basketball rankings (they are ranked 70th, while Creekside is ranked 439th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Derron Lindsey ii continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, scoring 25 points along with six assists and six rebounds. He hasn't dropped below 15points for eight straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Germani Wilson, who dropped a double-double on 12 points and 15 rebounds.
Despite the loss, Creekside saw an underclassman step up: Cadence Burch scored 26 points. Burch continues to roll, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played. Another player making a difference was Tim Gaulden, who scored 16 points along with five rebounds and two steals.
The win makes it two in a row for Mays and bumps their season record up to 10-4. As for Creekside, they are on a nine-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-13.
Mays will head out on the road to challenge Villa Rica at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Villa Rica is out to stop a five-game streak of losses at home. Creekside will take on Chapel Hill at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
