Regis Jesuit has enjoyed the comforts of home their last two games, but now they'll head out on the road. They will challenge The Legend Titans at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Colorado (Regis Jesuit is ranked 11th, while Legend is ranked tenth).
You're bound to get a positive result if you outscore your opponent every quarter, and that's exactly how it played out for Regis Jesuit on Friday. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that they blew Chaparral out of the water with a 51-0 final score. Regis Jesuit pushed the score to 44-0 by the end of the third, a deficit Chaparral had no chance of recovering from.
Regis Jesuit's success was spearheaded by the efforts of Peyton Lindell, who threw for 183 yards and two touchdowns, and Garrett Reece, who rushed for 68 yards and three touchdowns.
Meanwhile, Legend beat Pine Creek 28-16 on Friday.
Jaden Lawrence continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, rushing for 190 yards and a touchdown while picking up 7.3 yards per carry. Lawrence was no stranger to the big play, turning on the jets for a run that went for 67 yards.
The team's defense also helped out by holding Pine Creek to a paltry 211 yards. A big part of that defensive dominance came down to Legend's ability to keep the quarterback under pressure: the team laid him out five times before it was all said and done. Leading the way was Lucas Bettendorf and his two sacks.
Their wins bumped Regis Jesuit to 4-4 and Legend to 6-2.
Thursday's game will pit two of the most dominant backs against one another: Albert Medina and Lawrence. Medina has put up some stellar numbers this year, and currently owns excellent season averages of 65 rushing yards per game this season. For his part, Lawrence has averaged 101.8 rushing yards per game this season.
Regis Jesuit strolled past Legend in their previous meeting back in October of 2022 by a score of 26-11. The rematch might be a little tougher for Regis Jesuit since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
