After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Madison Christian, Berne Union was happy to have turned things around on Wednesday. They put the hurt on the Miller Falcons with a sharp 25-11 win. The result was nothing new for the Rockets, who have now won eight contests by ten runs or more so far this season.
Reese Besco made a splash no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, pitching three innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off five hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with two RBI.
In other batting news, Berne Union got a massive performance out of Lauryn Kuhn, who went 3-for-4 with four runs, two stolen bases, and two RBI. Those two stolen bases gave Kuhn a new career-high. Cloe Hatzer was another key player, getting on base in all five of her plate appearances with four runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.
Berne Union kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 16 hits. They are 5-1 when they post 11 or more hits.
Berne Union's victory bumped their record up to 8-6. As for Miller, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-7.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Berne Union will take on Fairfield Christian Academy at 5:15 p.m. on Thursday. The Rockets are facing the Knights at the right time seeing as the Knights are stuck on a six-game losing streak. As for Miller, they will challenge Nelsonville-York at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Buckeyes will roll in looking for their seventh straight win, something the Falcons surely won't give up without a fight.
