The Shaker Heights Red Raiders''s recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their fourth straight loss. They fell 48-41 to Barberton. Despite running the score up even higher than they did last Saturday (31), Shaker Heights still had to take the loss.
Xzavier Macon was his usual excellent self, rushing for 272 yards and three touchdowns while picking up 10.5 yards per carry. Macon really tore up the turf during one magnificent 78-yard run. The team also got some help courtesy of Dominic Wilson, who threw for 230 yards and two touchdowns while completing 75% of his passes.
Shaker Heights' defeat was their fourth straight on the road, which dropped their overall record down to 7-5. Admittedly, the team was facing some tough opposition over that stretch, including 11-1 Cleveland Heights and 8-3 Medina (their opponents had an average overall winning percentage of 72.9% over those games). As for Barberton, they have been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five matches, which provided a nice bump to their 7-4 record this season.
Shaker Heights does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Barberton will head out on the road to face off against Archbishop Hoban at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Archbishop Hoban presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Barberton in Ohio (Archbishop Hoban is ranked third, while Barberton is ranked 170th).
