Hillcrest hasn't had much luck against Cyprus recently, but that could start to change on Tuesday. The Huskies will be playing at home against the Pirates at 3:30 p.m. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty run totals in their previous games.
Hillcrest came out on top against West on Thursday thanks in part to the team's impressive seven-run second inning. The Huskies put the hurt on the Panthers with a sharp 11-1 victory. Considering the Huskies have won five contests by more than seven runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.

Gracie Pulham was a major factor no matter where she played. On the mound, she struck out 11 batters over five innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in three consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with one home run and three RBI.
In other batting news, Lanie Mathews was a standout: she went 2-for-4 with three RBI, one triple, and one run. That triple marked the first that she has hit this season. Another player making a difference was Lila Vawdry, who went 2-for-3 with two runs, two doubles, and one RBI.
Hillcrest was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .538. They are 5-2 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.
Meanwhile, it may have taken eight innings to finish the job, but Cyprus ultimately got the result they hoped for on Thursday. They had just enough and edged out West Jordan 11-10. With that win, the Pirates brought their scoring average up to 6.4 runs per game.
Like Hillcrest, Cyprus also got a great game from a two-way player: Brooklyn Krummi. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out six batters over five innings while giving up four earned (and one unearned) runs off six hits. Krummi was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with two runs and one RBI. Those two runs gave her a new career-high.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Frankee Kelsch, who went 2-for-4 with one home run, four RBI, and one double. Abagail Hurtado was another key player, going 2-for-5 with three RBI and one triple.
Hillcrest's victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 6-4. Those home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 15.0 runs over those games. As for Cyprus, they picked up their first home victory, bumping their record up to 5-6.
Cyprus' pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Hillcrest has been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 11.2 hits per game. It's a different story for Cyprus, though, as they've been averaging 9.4 hits. Given Hillcrest's sizable advantage in that area, the Pirates will need to find a way to close that gap.
Hillcrest might still be hurting after the 8-0 loss they got from Cyprus in their previous meeting back in April of 2024. Will the Huskies have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check MaxPreps after the match for a full breakdown of the game, commentary, and other softball content.
