4A/3A Conference 17 recap September 17, 2013
Topsail's Tyrekus Cooper recorded the longest rushing play in 4A/3A Conference 17 this season in his game against Croatan last week. Cooper scampered for 70 yards on the play and finished with 118 on the day as his team beat the Cougars.
Ashley moved up to 178 from 214 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in the league. The Screaming Eagle climbed the ranks as a result of topping White Oak 31-24.
Chris Kane and Chris Kane gave Ashley a balanced attack in passing and rushing last week. Kane threw for 114 yards and 2 touchdowns, while Kane ran for 178 yards. Jesse Jewell also contributed to the rushing game with 72 yards on the ground.

Randall Emerson was the best wideout in 4A/3A Conference 17 this week as the Vikings lost to the Cougars. Emerson tallied 8 receptions for 78 yards. Harrison Smith helped Hoggard's passing attack out by catching 4 balls for 35 yards.
Leading the league in both passing and receiving yards, Hoggard's Austin Schoenleber and Emerson have proven to be a lethal combination. Schoenleber has thrown for 336 yards this season, while Emerson has 16 catches for 245 yards. Kane from Ashley leads the league in rushing with 394 yards.
South Brunswick fell to North Brunswick 47-14 last week, the largest margin of any game.
