The Kuna Kavemen will challenge the Boise Brave at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. Kuna is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 9 runs per game this season.
Boise will be up against a hot Kuna squad: the team just extended their winning streak to three. Everything went the Kavemen's way against Ridgevue on Thursday as they made off with a 9-1 victory. The Kavemen might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won seven matches by seven runs or more this season.
Rylee Mangum made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out ten over four innings pitched. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't tossed less than nine strikeouts in three consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one run and one RBI.
In other batting news, Remington Quick and Jodi Zieglmeier did most of the damage at the plate: Quick went 3-for-5 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI, while Zieglmeier went 1-for-4 with one triple, two RBI, and one run. That's the most RBI Zieglmeier has posted since back in March. Paisley Wiedenfeld was another key player, going 1-for-3 with two RBI, one run, and one double.
Kuna was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .417. They are 4-2 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.
Meanwhile, Boise faced Mountain View in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Thursday. The Brave fell 10-5 to the Mavericks. The Brave have struggled against the Mavericks recently, as the game was their seventh consecutive lost meeting.
Boise saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Lily Binford, who went 1-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.
Kuna now has a winning record of 10-9. As for Boise, their loss dropped their record down to 11-7.
Boise's hitters will have their work cut out for them on Friday. Kuna has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 7.5 strikeouts per game. It's a different story for Boise, though, as they've been averaging only 3.1 strikeouts. Will Kuna keep running through batters, or will the Brave buck the trend?
Everything went Kuna's way against Boise when the teams last played back in April of 2024, as Kuna made off with a 14-4 win. Do the Kavemen have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Brave turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
